I've been there with the long mending of bones...I went through Sudoku books like they were water. Although I could only do the right hand sides of the pages as it was my left elbow that was 'mending'...and I couldn't hold the page back.
I was going a bit mental after a few weeks though. We went to Florida on a previously booked holiday one month after the accident and I spent it on painkillers, completely out of my head. So, getting back home was a dream to be honest.
You have to be very careful swallowing comfrey - it works by stimulating cell replication, and unfortunately can't differentiate between normal or abnormal cells. So if there's any pre-cancerous changes going on, or even worse actual cancer cell, then you risk making them grow much much faster So a professional homeopath wouldn't allow me to take it with my family history.
There are other homeopathic remedies worth trying, like Cal. Phos, or Symphitum (sp?) which my lovely MiL is hopefully going to sort out for me
If you can get hold of Comfry oil- rub it onto the area..it'll help both the swelling and healing, and if you pay gentle attention to rubbing it into the scars, they'll soften and flatten more quickly!

if you google for free patterns for baby blankets, loads come up (if you want something fancier)
I have also found a pattern in my collection for a simple trousers and jumper set. I will see if I can scan it later and try PMing it to you.
Oooh, that looks nice & simple Thanks Shirley
I really have to get to grips with casting on & off before I'll be able to do anything like adding/losing stitches though, or I'll just have stuff unravelling all over the place
Sorry, had a weird week, so not been on here, and consequently I've only just heard about your problem . My first thought was Comfrey, but I knew there complications with its use.
I had a minor riding accident when I was a teenager, and managed to get one leg squashed between the horse and the road. My whole lower leg swelled, and my ankle came up like a football. The hospital told me total rest and not to put any weight on it. Two weeks later, when I'd lost all the muscle strength they asked why I hadn't been exercising it! Grrrr.
Anyway, I sympathise, and hope you manage to find something to keep you occupied. It's horrible having an enforced rest, especially if you are usually an active person.
Chin up .

Only just seen this Sarah, really sorry you've had a setback. Next time you go write down all the questions you want answered beforehand & take them with you. Can only suggest what everyone else has in knitting, reading, browsing seed catalogues & ordering your O.H. around to make sure he does everything right in the garden/house!
On the stretching hamstring front, have you tried rolling a towel up, laying on your back, knees bent and looping the towel under your leg. Grab the ends of the towel with your hands, and pull your leg up. Straighten the leg until you can feel tightness in the back of your knee. To extend the stretch (although this bit might be tricky given what you've previously said) point your toes towards your face. Works for me when I can't quite grab my leg with my hands.
Regarding taking up time - have you considered Bonsai? Or Origami?
I might be able to give it a good go - I went to a talk by Medwyn Williams a couple of months ago & that's where he's from, he said it a couple of times, so I know the first mouthful already
Sarah, only just read this, so sorry, I thought you were out of cast a bit quick.
when I did my arm I found a pint of milk a day helped with the pain, (and I hate milk on its own) if your not getting out much you should be having a vit D and calcium supliment.
Im coming over your way on sun 8th Feb, I'll need your address again, I'll bring wool, needles patterns and show you how to cast on and off.
You can practice squares for me, I never did finish enough to make a blanket! LOL.
