When a vet qualifies they do so under the premise that they will treat any suffering animal or euthanise. At least that's what I was told when I looked into studying as a mature student.

..that's interesting!
I understood they were obliged to care for wildlife- but hadn't realised about domestic animals.

Our vet treats the feral cats from the allotments. I've also been there when a cat has been brought in having been knocked down. All they asked was that the person bringing the cat in wrote down a fairly accurate description of where it was found in case its owner was looking for it.
