Do you reckon they'd make a good centrepiece?

ha ha ha imagine saying to your friends "come and look at my hairy balls". ha ha ha.

I got the T&M catalogue off of mother in law yesterday. I was a bit disappointed that my own one hasn't come yet. Thought the trial radish at 69p was worth a go and the £5 free voucher came in handy but like many of you I wasn't really taken aback by it.

Problem for me now is do I buy from direct seed sellers or do I buy from the allotment shop (huge discounts - 100 onion sets are only 75p and most seeds from 20p to 70p) and have what everyone else will be growing at the same time.

We don't have allotment shop. If I was at your site, would probably go for the onion sets. There really isn't a great choice available in the sets.

The garden centre near my mum's has T&M seeds - they'll sell the trial packets that cheap, so not worth ordering direct.

We have alloment shops but they are open at ridiculous times and on sites on the other side of the city. Have just had King's catalogue and Wiggly Wrigglers "sale" catalogue through the door today. King's always looks good and it has some bits I would like. Have placed an order with T&M for a repeat of some of the things I grew this year (mainly toms) because I have lost my labels and can't remember which is which except the Marmande (which are obvious) in order to save seed. Doh!

Am however tempted by the climbing courgette "Black Forest" mentioned in the mag this month. Another space saver?

I've received the T&M catalogue, and agree multiveg, it's nothing spectacular.

I have also received the Moles Seeds catalogue, which is basically a wholesale seed supplier. They have had to impose a minimum order size of £5.00, but I would have thought that it would have been an ideal catalogue for allotment holders who are buying seeds in bulk.

The flower seeds you have to add VAT on, at the current rate, but the edibles, fruit plants and veg seed are VAT-free.

It's worth a browse on www.molesseeds.co.uk, and no I'm not on commission, but have been buying from them for several years.

I'm surprised at the difference in price between T & M and Kings e.g. April cabbage in T & M is £1.59 for 450 seeds and only 80p in Kings for 350! I'm still waiting for a few more catalogues before I decide.

Might use the £5 voucher but I shall be getting most of mine from either the lottie shop or HDRA I think.

Can't wait for other seed catalogues to come out - probably be here by mid-October, though that is still quite a wait!
I notice there is a 4th edition for the potato guide. Best see if I can get hold of that before Potato Day at Ryton last week of January.

Tamar Organics catalogue is out. No pretty pictures but a good range of pots and everything else. Always give good customer service and good quality/value for money.

Agreed, Tamar are a good supplier. And it's well worth comparing the number of seeds, they vary greatly from supplier to supplier. Seeds of Italy are often very generous.

I don't want to be tempted by too many catalogues. Will be getting probably 3 or 4 more through the post and that will be enough for me.
Moles would be ideal if you have plenty of room and/or plenty of plottie friends so you can order the bulk quantities they supply. I will be struggling to sow the 1750 seeds for overwintering lettuce I have in a T&M packet.
