ooooooh Kirsty well done for taking the plunge! The best nurses have usually been former HCA's.
If you need any help with assignments let me know, I'll help if I can although I might be a bit rusty too, been qualified 14 years next month!

My kids always said they wished I wasn't a nurse cuz then they'd get some sympathy (I wasn't really cruel, just wouldn't stand for excuses)

Seriously, thanks you guys. I know I haven't met many of you but I consider you all as friends. I have been saying for ages 'lets wait until pickle is older/money is better/ etc etc, but I have decided that it really is now or never. If I put it off any longer I'll never do it. Whats life for , if not to be grasped by the short ones and lived?
I went to Uni in 1997 and ended up dropping out and have always regretted it, I don't want to wonder 'what if?' again.

Clearly I am now old, and of a grandfatherly disposition, but as a much younger man it was said that there were only 2 certainties in life, death and nurses.
Living near the Army Nursing school I certainly did get to test this theory out... but as a gentleman never tells, I couldnt possibly divulge whether the saying was true or not.

Good for you! I've had a similar experience and decided I'd like to be a teacher. On reading all the information it will take 6yrs of study to gain a degree, which is compulsory. I'm also very nervous about this part as like yourself the last time I was studying like this was in 1991. I'm very worried about the first essay.
I'm also nervous that if I'm lucky enough to pass I maybe too old to teach. I'll be 43yrs old. Like you say life is too short and you have to try. I feel that half the battle is won if you want it so good luck with everything. Keep us up to date on your progress.

Good luck getting into teaching Soomai, now THATS a job I'd never be able to do. Don't have the patience for kids at all.
I know there is a few years of hard work on the way, but it will be so worth it when we get there!!

In a previous life after my business went pear shaped in the last recession, I trained as a Registered General Nurse (before it became degree based), qualified and worked in casualty for 2 years before leaving to work as an electrician again.

You will love it.

And BOB, I don't think we need that kind of saying about nurses. The work was hard enough without having our characters impinged while we were at it.
