Tootles, this had completely left my head (not unusual) but along a similar theme on my last trip home.
Abandoned all my principles and went into the amusingly named (for the peurile) But, and bought a laptop. Cheapest one in the shop was 320 Euro. I got it home, followed the instructions, and after about half an hour it froze. Pah. Rebooted it, same thing. Double pah. Took it back, got a new one, with receipt, guarantee etc. Got it home, exactly the same thing happened.
Frustrated I took it back, and explained. There was all manner of trying to give me another one but I refused, saying I had had 2, neither of them worked, no confidence in this model, money back please.
It took well over 2 hours but finally the woman disappeared and returned with a cheque.
Thanking her kindly I left the shop and went to the bank to pay it in.
399.75 Euro on the cheque. Dilemma. What to do.
I had bought stuff from But before that broke within a very short space of time and they refused to pay me back or even exchange it, so I'm (ever so slightly) ashamed to say that I banked it. Its there now, looking at me, smiling.

Tony, I went to Montpellier on the way to the airport. We usually go to Gaillac (good wine there too) which is just SW of Albi, Tarn 81. But there is one in Perigueux which may be closer http://www.bricodepot.fr/perigueux-trelissac/ .
They are owned by the same people as B&Q so it may feel a little familiar......
