The only way I get any recgnition of Valentine's Day is if something reminds him (preferably not me). I usually try to make supper special, but that is all. A few years back we happened to go shopping in ASDA on the day, and the manager was standing by the tills giving a red rose (silk) to every female customer.
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

I adore Valentines day- and always go over the top with the evening meal!!!

Red candle to eat by- no electric lights..red food..and pink champ with home grown raspberries

Breakfast usually 1/2 bottle champ with toast cut into heart shape with red jam.

French friend asked what I did and was so sad that her OH wasn't interested..that I've invited her( and OH) to join us!!! ( must be that French men are sexy all year round..and not just one day of the year???)

I LOVE this day..stuff I normally have isn't readily available here- so I'm looking forward to hearing what the rest of you do!!!!

I've always said, "Doesn't bother me" but it does actually.
Send your hubby a card and see if he sends one back, even if it is a day or two too late.

        If he don't, well............................

Other than that, post your address on here and I'm sure you will have a load of cards on your door mat when you wake up.
Or send yourself one, with different handwriting so the OH don't realise you sent it to yourself, then he may get a bit jealous and start sending you one from now on lol.

Urmm...my philosophy is that if you need to enjoy it...and no-one else is thoughtful enough to join in..then do it for yourself..cos you're beautiful, and deserve to be fused over!!!

Go for it gals!!!!!..give them a shock!!!!

Actually I'm a man! Well last time I looked.

No if I don't get one that's meant, then it means nothing really. so I won't send myself one.

I used to go really over the top to my OH's, I must admit I'm a bit of a romantic but although I will do a special meal or if cash permits, go out. For the last 20 years I've stopped sending cards.

Don't stop me from being a romantic in other ways though.
I am certain that the day my boat comes in, I'll be at the airport.

The last two years we have spent valentines day in New york, the OH spoils me by taking me shopping in tiffany's, this year due to the state of the dollar we will be spending it at home and will probably be working!!!! but i dont mind as every day is valentines day with my fab OH.

Sorry, saw your name (Stacy Steve) and thought you was Stacy.
And lets face it, it is normally the women that complain about not getting anything on Valentines Day and so they should too lol.

Well that's my birthday aswell, I use to own a greeting card shop so I was sick of the sight of red envelopes and cards. But deep down I really enjoy it...

Yep indeed, I usually buy Mr R some red roses, and if we don't go out, then it will be Champagne and me trying to arrange our 'special romantic' dinner into heart shapes on the plate. I usually get some beautiful flowers and lovely card and little nice things.

I know there's an argument about it all being a racket to get us to part with cash, but it's whatever you want it to be. Mr R is the same lovely, loving person all year round, but we don't usually write it down on a nice card and buy roses and the like.

Well its the 24th anniversary of us getting together !
                          Hubby
bought me a new wedding ring yesterday as mine got hooked on a door handle and i nearly ripped my finger off (ouch ! )
If im lucky i get a card but im dragging him to a potato and seed swap day so i will enjoy myself.
I do a nice meal and he gets a card.
Once a year to show you love someone is not much to ask and for those who fancy someone but dont send a card, do it thats how we got together !!!

                            Phew!
I was beginning to think I was the only one who celebrated it!

Yay for Rhona and Nicos! And the others who I've forgotten already (accidentally had some of OH's wine while sowing the seeds)

My hubby and I got engaged on valentines day. I was 17 and 9 months and he was two years older.
We have been married ever since ,roughly 44 years)
When we were younger and poorer he used to cook me a meal.
Now he is retired we have a champagne breakfast and a nice meal in a good restaurant.
Truth to tell, after all these years I don't mind as long as the two of us are still together.
Yes he still gets me a card, flowers, chocolates and anything else that catches his eye.
He is retired 12 years now and in that tine he has served me my breakfast in bed every morning along with the morning paper.
We are together now 48 years.

Bramble, that is wonderful and something we should all aspire to and I'm sure a lot of us are at least slightly jealous of. You are both very lucky and you obviously know and apreciate that.
