He thinks its all just a great big con to make people spend money on tat. He says he shows me his love every day by letting me look after him so well (cooking/cleaning/washing/etc etc) as he wouldn't let just anybody do it!!!
Didn't know whether to laugh or crack him one when he came out with this.
I am loving myself this year, with a trip to the potato day, a bottle of wine and I'll buy my own flowers!!
He'll get a present, but nothing has caught my eye yet.Kirsty b xx

My hubbie's birthday is on Valentines day. When we got together it was a bit of a whirlwind romance and he asked me to marry him. I didn't want to remarry at the time as felt very bruised from my a bad experience.
I told him i would let him know when i was ready. He had never had a birthday cake when he was little as his parents were not nice people, so i asked him if he would like a birthday cake five years ago, he said he would love that.
So on his birthday i gave him a box with a birthday cake in it, when he opened it, it had a lovely cake in it on which was written in icing, 'Will you marry me?', he burst into tears and said yes.
Every year we remember that day and he has said that no birthday has ever meant so much to him as the day i asked him to marry me. We got married five years ago and it has been bliss ever since. When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. I love romance (bah humbug to you lot over in the grumpy corner)!!
I've always sent my OH roses on Valentines day, its our little tradition. Last year I sent him a Wiggly Wigglers bouquet (which was stunning) to our place of work. I had to rescue it from the Goods-In boys before they tried to deliver it to him whilst singing 'just one Cornetto'!
Years ago I worked as a receptionist at a local hotel, I went to work at 6.30am on Valentines Day (which happened to be a Sunday) leaving OH's roses and card on the dining table for him to find when he came downstairs. When I came home from work, in place of the vase of roses he'd placed a chocolate cake that he had cooked, cut it into a heart shape and iced for me too.
What a sweetheart.
We normally also have a lovely meal at home, some champagne and snuggle up under a blanket to watch a film.Last edited by Pumpkin Becki; 01-02-2009, 10:49 PM.

Nothing wrong with romance but it shouldn't be forced, there's 364 other days of the year for nice gestures and I'd much rather have my OH who does nice things for me because he wants to rather than because a card shop says he should do - think that puts me in the grumpy corner too but more than happy to be there.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

No not grumpy atall, romance to me isn't about bling or huge boxes of chocs/bunches of flowers it is when he sees you've got a tummy ache and makes you a hot water bottle without being asked, or telling you, you look lovely when you are full of cold and you know you resemble a snot monster but he says you are still beautiful, that is romance to me.When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
