      Hilary,
I love my animals too but isnt giving them exulted status going just a bit too far?
If you land at St Malo you really do pass by my door heading south, you would all be welcome to break the journey, give my dog someone to talk to as well.
Weymouth wouldnt be terminal (see what I did?) for me SBP, but cost as always is the issue. I will need to compare when I get back. Having just paid almost 300 quid for a weeks crossing, I'm loath to do that again. I'm only popping over to get a 3 piece suite, (and maybe a wooden greenhouse) and dont envisage coming back too soon.
"Plus belle ma vie" I am happy to say.

The longer the crossing the higher the cost - give us a clue what are you looking for and is it car or car & trailer ie size of vehicle (its what counts! )...

Could be it'd be as easy to go Portsmouth to Caen as although its another 100km drive its mainly down the A84 rather than on smaller roads and round Rennes from St-Malo?

Are the offers available from France to UK, or will you have to book via the French sites?

Can anyone tell me what is the most westerly French port they go to? My connection is so slow, and my internet skills are so rubbish that its going to be quicker to ask on here.
PW if you're in Bretagne and I am home you and the Piglet family would be most welcome to pop in. Not sure about the quality of tea as I dont drink the stuff, but there will be cold ones in the fridge.
I could also take you to the finest garden centre in the world.
We will be staying in St Briac Bod, 10 yards from Dinard, Oh and your on with the cold one

Typo of course<g> I thought I had corrected that before posting, but apparently the correction didn't 'take'<g>
We only go via France in mid winter. 6 hours drive from Santader is so much easier than 11 hours plus 6-7 hours via Toulouse, but the Santander boat doesn't run near Christmas. Maybe next time.......
