try your local greasy spoon or chinese takeaway, i get egg trays from them and also the blue plastic trays that they get mushrooms delivered in, they are great for drying onions and they stack up as well for better storage.

Went to our farmers' market yesterday which is held on an egg farm and thought I'd ask if they had any old trays to spare. Was asked how many I wanted and just said "a few". The woman I spoke to sent her lad round the back and he came back with a pile about 60 deep for me take as many as I wanted for free. Told me that they usually compost them . Took about 20 of them which is more than enough as they're the big trays. Just need to find lots of flat spaces now to put then on!

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I use the trays that apples are packed in.
Just collect them from the nearest supermarket.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

I was going to go on Dragons Den with this and ask for £12.47 for 32.9% of my company......its called Chit Box.
I hope to sell 2 of them at £10000000.
Bascally it a Box that you put your seed potatoes in. The boxes are special chit boxes.

I get them from the bins behind asda. and write Chit box on them in black pen. then put the spuds in rose size up. if I have too much space in the box I put scrunched up paper in to fill it up.

There will be a shortage soon of the big egg trays, I read in my poultry magazine, as most eggs are sold not in plastic boxes, the larger cardboard ones wont be around much longer.

Your butcher probably thought you were being a bit cheeky! If you'd bought some eggs he might have thrown in a few empties as well

T&M are selling pre-chitted spuds for the time-poor, cash-rich (numpty) gardener.
They are about £1 per seed !

I was planning on using a shallow tray (spare freezer shelf actually) with a layer of sand in the bottom. Although I might just nick the apple tray idea - local Tesco will hand some over I think.

If only NOG's Chit Boxes were on sale locally I would surely buy one.
