    Is it enough?
How many veggies do you have to buy through the year? and which ones do you run out of?
No idea how big my space is at home, but veg patch is twice the size it was last year plus i have an 8x10 greenhouse - and its never enough! I don't have a lottie and still buy veg throughout the year, although its much less in the summer months.

I'd love to be self sufficient but its not realistic for me, although this year i'm going to try & be able to harvest something all year round and make the most of early / late varieties. I'm also trying much more fruit this year as its so expensive & OH eats loads of it. Last year i only had 3 newly planted apple trees, strawberries & 2 rhubarb plants. This year i also have a pear tree, plum tree, cranberry, blueberry, blackcurrant, redcurrant, 2 gooseberry, raspberry and alpine strawberries.

I'm also going to (try) and be more disciplined with what i plant, i.e not just plant quick growing things so i have something to harvest even though i don't like them or pretty things just because they look nice, i'm going to grow stuff we actually like & eat. I also dabbled with chutneys last year and am going to try my hand at this a bit more this year, along with jams & jellies.

i have a strip of land 8 feet long by 2 foot wide with 2 conifur tree stumps included the soil is about 3 inches deep then it is full of gravel and a 3 in wide blue pipe running the lenght of it (i think the last owner tried to make a french drain as the lawn is waterlogged and having a clay base..i have made a raised bed 2 ft long x 2ft wide and 16in high at one end hoping to find some planks to do the rest of the strip so i can raise the beds..

ixi1456, have you tried local scaffold merchants for free / cheap wood? We get all ours for raised beds from a local chap who is only too willing to get rid of it. He even helps saw it up so it fits in the car
