In my 'learning to knit' days - about 52 years ago - My Ma gave me a ball of soft knitting string - I made dish cloths! The snags and runs didn't matter - and the end result got used.

I have some of that yarn. I love it for knitting cotton arans - I bought loads of it when we lived in Holland years ago.

Whenever the boys have a dose of 'Mum, can you teach me to knit?' out comes the cotton and 6mm needles. It makes great polishing dusters for show horses

For anyone who is thinking of knitting.
Lidl are selling wool and needles in the coming week.
All you knitters, get out there and make a start.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,

Thanks girls for resurrecting my knitting.
I have now dug out my lovely brown half-finished alpaca jumper, and sewn up most of it (properly, with blocking & pressing & everything).

As a reward to myself, I am now bidding on another 6 lots of yarn on eBay! You lot are very naughty for encouraging me.

Yep, I thought I had my addiction well under control. I hadn't fallen off the wagon for 5 years, after tempation from here last year I'm back into knitting and can't stop again! I can't carry on working full time - there just isn't enough time off for all I want to do!

Hmm, the addiction never goes away, it just lies dormant ...
Last week I ordered a batch from Kemps wool online shop (proper shop in Sunderland). Lots of bargains plus an advert saying R-wan yarns from 89p soon. Delivery was quick, ordered last Friday, delivered 8am Monday. Must finish the merino cardigan first before I start something else.

I fancy making myself something with bamboo yarn. Anyone used that? What is it like to knit with?
