  • Accidental offering of services to school

I asked son's teacher if they needed any seeds for the little (child's waist high) raised beds they have. (I have lettuce, basil, spring onions, and radish surplus)The plan is to let each child in reception have a small square and they can plant what they choose from the seeds they have got.

I may have accidentally agreed to help them do it. Teacher is a litle scary and you just don't say 'no' to her lol.

Ooops, like I dont have enough to do!

I nearly made the same mistake 2 weeks ago..........phew only got them free spuds......although it is nice when the littlens are gardening, they talk nonsense but their wow factor makes you realise that its worth it, go on enjoy yourself xx
Dont worry about tomorrow, live for today

I expect I shall love it when I am there. I am used to teaching 'big' kids who generally have no enthusiasm and too many hormones. This will make a refreshing change

If i was offered help by a lovely parent like you i would be thrilled, not all teachers are scary some are lovely!! Why don't you suggest they join the RHS scheme as they will regularly get sent seeds, labels, etc for free! Shame you don't live near my school cause i'd love to have you help.
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. ~Author Unknown

I often go in as perent helper, but that's prob because I am nosey and like to know what my son is getting up to lol.

I don't mind as long as I can give it the time it needs, and as we all know, time is precious!

I love the little ones they are just like sponges. My son amazes me everyday with his growing knowledge on everything, including the garden!

If it gives the childen who don't have a little patch of their own at home the chance to have a go and plant what THEY want then it will be worth it.

              Hi

That scheme ended in Dec '08, orders by Jan '09. We collected 6000 vouchers for my school and I am eagerly awaiting the order I put in (should be here by mid March)
