My 85 year old ma-in-law had hers done under local last year. She said it was fascinating! You get over it much quicker than a general.Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

I had an op with a local, i could hear all the cutting noises it was the wierdest thing ever, it was removing a non malignant cyst off my head. I did recover quickly though and got to see what they had taken out too!
If you don't think you could stand that then you are right to go for a GA then you are right to ask for one as you don't need the stress.
Hope all goes well.xxWhen weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. ~Author Unknown

Oh good news Jackie, I hope it all goes well for you.
A friend of mine had both hers done, and both under local anaesthetic while she sat and watched (nutter !). With the first one, her left hand (she is right-handed), it took a good six months before she was back to normal - she was told four months. The second took a little over four, but it was her dominant hand.
She had put-off having them done for years, now regrets it.All the best - Glutton 4 Punishment
