Hubby not happy with me as I don't want to leave the garden/allotment during the growing season. I can just about cope with a weekend away at my mother's. She would like us to go as a family away for Christmas somewhere. Did I read somewhere that onions should be sown on Boxing Day (well close to the shortest day) to grow them nice and large?

A friend of mine did Saga to China - she said though that she preferred Peru (again with Saga). Holidays for her mean putting her german shepherd in kennels though.

Ohhhh, Peru is one of my main want to go places. the flights never seem to get cheap though. Will have to go soon before my biological clock kicks in and it would cost even more.
We always go away winterish time. Mostly because our county has so little nice weather I don't want to miss it.

Blossom, I can highly recommend Peru. I went in March a couple of years ago had an ab fab time up in the Amazon rainforest. Plants defy the imagination. Beware the mozzies; malaria and Dengue a real problem if you do not take adquate/appropriate precautions.
