    I've never bothered washing them before, but noticed they are a bit cobwebby and ratty looking. This will do it quickly and I'll be able to give them a good sort out too.

            Go easy on the talc, though.

            I'd be worried about clogging up the dishwasher. The sediment will drain from the 'washing tank' (no idea what else to call it!!!), but will settle in any u-bends in the water pipes. Make sure you check em, or you might get blockage or reflux and your plates may start to clean less efficiently/the dishwasher will pong. And Manchester stinks enough.
