Record shops

Until 18 months or so ago Loughborough had 4 record shops the last one(Zavvi) closed last week.
If I want to buy a CD/DVD I now have to go to Leicester or Nottingham.
I don't like buying on line & prefer going to a shop to see what's available.

We have nowhere in Ely except Tescos.

Woolies is gone, and the one local independant shop is now selling kebabs.

I had a Saturday job in Selectadisc and Wild Wax when I was a teenager! Brill that it's still there - 'twas a bit of an institution.

Nearest record shop for me is Horsham or Horley Tescos. There hasn't been a record shop in Dorking for about 10 years, I think and now that Woollies is gone, that option is gone with it!

Actually, I don't know if WHSmith sells them (ours is quite small). I don't recall seeing them in there, but I would have thought the selection is miniscule.

We have HMV, Virgin records, Golden discs, Easons and Tesco. Probably a few more I can't think of at the moment.
Sometimes I buy on Itunes. You can buy tune by tune rather than the whole disc if its just one track you want.

They are supermarkets that sell a limited selection of titles they are NOT record shops.

I was upset when The Left Legged Pineapple shut BW, the OH and I always used to find gems and spend too much when we went in there (visiting SiL's who live in LoBro).

Our record shop, MixMusic, in Skipton closed a few years ago, so there's nowhere in Skipton now that Woolies is gone. We'd have to go to Leeds or Bradford for what I'd call a 'proper' record shop now. I just browse the download sites now, especially 7Digital.
