      Give it a ouple of coats of wood preservative (water based NOT Creosote) before you re-assemble it & then do it every 2 or 3 years & it will look great & last a lifetime.

      Did it come with a base? if not either a row of blocks on a concrete footing or just concrete would be good.

      If you are feeling really flash you could use one of the colured stains & have it country cream or something

        Nope, there's no base on it, but we've got a pile of flags in the garden which we're going to lay and put it on

        Not sure about "country cream" - just some normal wood stuff will do me!
