Surely, thats the problem, that era is why Sissinghurst is what it is and the reason it gets all the visitors it does, and understanding the gardeners mind when it was designed or planted may give some extra reasoning to what is there.Originally posted by borage View PostComment

and then grumpy old chef says 'it wasn't selling well' BUT the others on his team said 'it went really quickly' - bet he had them on pot-washing duties all week

I have never been to Sissinghurst, but I have now planted it firmly on my list of places to visit this year,becuse it looks wonderful.

It is glorious, my in-laws live about 2 minutes drive from it and all the locals get invited to special evening openings in the summer. It's really special to go round almost on your own.
I've been recording the series on my Sky box, but haven't actually watched it yet - have to say I'm intregued now.Comment
