well done everyone, ive had a tear in my eye all the way through this posts, and then when " he won" that was the end of me,
my 18 year old daughter is just coming to the end of a 6 month tour of iraq she'll be home in june and i tell her in every phone call how proud we are of her, and even saying it brings a lump to my throat,
being parents aint easy is it

What a wonderful thing to read Bob, I'm so pleased for you., you must be very proud (and relieved). One of my daughters had a very rebellious few years from when she hit about 14, wont go into all the problems but she missed most of the last school year and had a baby at 16. That baby is now our wonderful grandson age nearly 14, she also has a daughter of 11, married the lad, and is now a midwife! She is now just beginning to have to deal with her own children's rebellious antics so life has come full circle! I am so proud of her too.

I'm so happy for you Bob and you have a right to be proud.
I think we can only bring our children up the best way we know how, according to our own lights.
We are not responsible for their failings or their successes. It's what's in them, their genes, they are not tabula rasa.
The best we can do is bring them up to meet their full potential in their own time.
Congratulations Bob, you have done that.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.
