Making the right approach

As a few of you know, I save lots of my own seed, often difficult to get varieties or occasionally, almost impossible to get varieties.

I find it rather amusing that after a quick google internet search for a certain seed, my name comes up, the searcher then quickly joins the grapevine and either emails me or pms me with the following:-

"I have heard lots about "@~~+%", about how delicious they are. Can you send some seeds to me at such and such address.

No "hello", "would it be possible", "do you want an SAE".

Now, I consider myself a generous sort of guy, when banana shallot seeds were selling at £5 for 20 seeds, I sent out over 300 packets foc, no charge, no postage, I just wanted to establish the variety in the open domain, this is something I will continue to do.

The last demander of my seeds got a reply alright, they are £100 each and are only sold in 10's.

Come on guys, if you want something, make the right approach and the result may be a bit different. Any contributer to the vine is welcome to my seeds, dont just join the vine to get them though, contribute.

I'm afraid some people are like that.I sent quite a few packets of seeds,didn't want sae or anything in return,till this day I haven't got a clue if the seeds arrived safely or not.

i had the same on freecycle, i put loads of stuff on, and got so many ..... i want this this and this ring me ....... i lost the will to live ..... it does annoy me greatly when people are rude ......... so you have a good rant PW and hope it feels better now you got that off your chest

I also send out seeds without wanting anything in return, but I have had a few from people on here and I hope I have said thank you if not I am sorry.

You are neither old fashioned or old, unfortunately it would seem that nowadays certain people will just take all the time and never return.

I started a thread a while back about this, so as you will possibly remember (PW) your rant is in my opinion 150% justified.....

That makes 2 of us then, being old fashioned as you say lol I fully understand what you are saying, I feel the same I don't think it is old fashioned at all to have good manners, to me it is just right!

I think some people are lazy about some things and don't see the value of good manners!

some people must have just been draged up, no manners, no values. After all how hard is a please and thankyou At the end of the day, good manners cost nothing, takes but a second of your time to be polite and show some appreciation when it is called for!

As said, manners cost nothing. I don't tend to have many seeds to send out but am very annoyed by the fact that I very rarely hear that they have been received. It's not like it costs anything, just a quick PM. Then again, I've probably forgotten on occaisions also so sorry to anybody I've forgotten.

I must admit to being a bit shocked at some of the requests for Pepper*** seeds that I've seen... They pop up on the original thread, and I've even seen them on your visitor messages PW. I'm not surprised you've had a rant, I'd have lost my rag with it long since!! We all know you for a lovely generous person, so don't feel bad about it
I'd be tempted to archive/remove the original thread, might stem the flow of graspers a bit?

Blimey piglet, I googled a certain seed and it certainly did pop up the Vine in the first few results.
Shame peeps are so rude though, no need for it.
