I think you need i cubic yard 36 X2 = 72 square ft if you have it 4 inche's deep that is 3 sq feet to 1 cubic ft that is 24 cubic ft and a cubic yard is 27 cubic ft hope this do's not confuse....jacob

I want it to be a couple of inches deep or so. There will be menbrane underneath and don't want it to show through. Might be a better alternative that's cheaper? Not newspapers though, not very attractive lol.

You don't say where abouts the paths are, but if you aren't worried about the decorative side of things, look for builder's gravel, it's way cheaper than 'garden stuff'. Mind you I've even got sea shells in mine in the bottom of the greenhouse. I bought the bags from B&Q as I only needed 6, but instead of £3-4 each I think I paid around £1.50
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!
