My dad had a go at tossing one once and ended up flinging it over his head and them spinning round and he actually cought. it. We all clapped obviously thinking he'd done it on purpose, mum assures me he hadn't!
I might do a stuffed pancake with mushrooms and herbs with cheese sauce on then follow it with some sweet ones. OH likes lemon and sugar. I like jam or choc spread, or icecream or syrup, or jam and icecream or... you get the picture?!
Oh and home made here too.
Why is it the first panckake out of the pan is rubbish?

I was watching something the other day where they used salt in a dry pan to pull out all the impurities in the pan then gave it a wipe round with some kitchen paper.
Pretty sure it was pancake related.A simple dude trying to grow veg. http://haywayne.blogspot.com/

Think it's to do with getting the pan well & truly covered in oil.(?)I have a cup by the pan...put too much oil in at start & then tip it into the cup to use for subsequent pancakes.the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.

I think the problem with the first pancake is that the pan is not hot enough. I put my pancake pan on to heat before I mix the batter. I never use oil or butter and only have to chuck the first pancake to the dog once in ever 10 lots of pancakes (much to the dog's disappointment)Last edited by shirlthegirl43; 24-02-2009, 10:39 AM.Happy Gardening,

Oooooh, thanks for the reminder, just texted OH to get some more milk! You just know I'm a Pancake addict don't you lol?! We'll have savoury ones (probably Chilli, as I've just defrosted some) to start, then sweet ones with lemon, sugar and cream after.
Then indigestion

Ours were fab - OH made me try adventurous (but lovely) combos, mainly consisting of toffee icecream mixed with nutella. Or peanut butter and icecream. Golden syrup and icecream.
My 4 yr old didn't like them this year and opted for bread and butter when I wouldn't make him anything else. Strange child.

we always go to my mum's for pancakes, HB says she makes the best ones, we had sugar and lemon, choco spread and banana and maple syrup, all were yum, had loads, but i was starving after working hard moving gravel and making two beds in the front garden!
