I was just wondering if you send a message to someone you know is on line reading the forum and you send a message, how long before they recieve it? and do you get an indication one has come in if you are on line aswell? not being that computor literate I just wondered if you could have an almost real time conversation or is a delay put in? cheers now to all.

Hi Lez, it's quite quick, a few minutes I would say but then it depends how often the person checks their messages. If you look in top right hand corner of the forum page, it should say 'welcome Lez' below that it says private messages, if you have one it will show up on there, then click on it and it will open your private messages folder from where you can read the message.AKA Angie

It needs a direct link to be the fastest. The software of your PC and the message board servers will slow things down a bit, depending on how quickly the data is processed (immediately or every 5 or 10 mins). The webmaster would know that.
If you want a real time conversation (even a video chat) then use messenger (either Yahoo or Microsoft).

Just out of interest, as the thread is called "e-mails" are you asking about conventional e-mails (Outlook Express etc.) or are you talking about the Private Message service on this Forum? There are 10 kinds of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't.

Hi Lez
I often have 'conversations' via PM; being a Moderator and all.
It updates your messages immediately, however it will only show in bold that you have a new Private Message when the page is refreshed.
it is perfectly possible to have a conversation...albeit a bit slow.
