Bittersweet memories

I've been browsing Friends Reunited for the first time recently, and have found several old friends from school and university, including a couple of ex girlfriends
But that was thirty years ago, and I now ask myself if I do actually want to contact anyone, and would they thank me if I did?
On the other hand, why else would they post their details on such a website?

Any comments?

I'm not a fan of FR or FB, I feel that we are meant to move (progress) through life with different people at different times.

I'm not sure I can see the point in 'keeping up with someone' through online fora that you didn't 'bother' to keep up with in real life. I am, most likely, in the minority in those views though.

I went to a school reunion after years of not keeping in touch with anyone. It was a waste of time really, I had moved on. I suppose I went out of interest. Unless you keep contact with them then there is probably a reason why you didn't.

I still see some of the people I went to school with, but only because we still live in the same village.
I don`t socalise with any of them, we just say hi, as we pass on the street.
I think your friends change as you grow older.

I have got back in contact wth some people from my past on these sites and for that it is a good thing, sometimes you do just lose contact with someone. on the other hand you do have to realise that it is not going to be like it used to be. people do move on and you must always remember that. as for ex-girlfriends? don't go there.

I met up with 4 old school friends I hadn't seen or heard of since 1969. It was interesting so see how everyone had turned out but didn't lead to any lasting friendships - we had all turned into very different people and bizarrely had very different memories of the same events.

Oh I have not bothered with all that, moved on now, besides i was terribly bullied at school so really dont want to see those peeps again. Besides........my friends are all on ere!!!

For me it's because my parents got divorced and we had to leave Canada and when I was an adult I had an ex who was a stalker and so I had to move away.

Bookface is fab...all those people you thought you'd left behind you can now communicate with. Even some you never thought you'd meet...

We are all on BF at college as well, so in between we send each other photo stuff and we know what is going on with each other...

It's like everything...a bit of what you fancy does you good just don't get addicted or too reliant.

Plus, with the whizzo that is Two_Sheds - I have to keep trying to beat her on a particular shiny glitzy game on BF.

Bookface is fab...all those people you thought you'd left behind you can now communicate with. Even some you never thought you'd meet...

I've never been bovved really with seeing what people are up to. I have the vaguest, infrequent sightings of people I went to school with (well, ok 3 people) and they're ones that I was good friends with!

I had a perfectly happy time at school, but life takes you off in whatever direction, and I went to school miles and miles away from where I've lived as an adult. I'd happily chat to anyone I bumped into, but I don't think I'd seek them out.

i joined friends re-united about 9-10 years ago, funny, but no-one has ever contacted me ..... but then i've never contacted anyone either ..... there was a 25 year reunion 7 years ago, and i thought about whether to go, but then figured there was only 2 people who didn't hate me in our year, and they werent going either, so why would i want to go and spend time with them ........

i would love to contact my first BF though, cos i still love him ....... long story, but he's got 5 kids now lol ...... we always promised we'd get married to each other when we're 50 ..... but i moved away and lost contact again *tuts*
