I can imagine how you feel Wayne. I'm having work done on the house at the moment and the guy who was here today told me the two men who were here 2 weeks ago got paid off and the one who was here last friday got paid off as there is just no work for them.
I just feel sick for them. It must be really awful.
I hope your friend can find something else.

We have a redundancy program going on and it's supposed to be about 10% of the staff going. They announced this Christmas Eve, the whole thing will be going on between last month and June. It's like having a sword hanging over me.

One of my mates went yesterday and it got to me just looking at his face as he came round to say goodbye. I went through this years ago and when you finally walk out the door, it's like everything stops, suddenly there's this void.

I'm cakking myself at times as I'll be 59 in a few months and know if I go, then the chances of me getting another job is zilch.

It upsets me that the banks got us into the mess and the goverments are balling them out and the bosses who promoted the bad risks are getting good payoffs.

I've been paying my mortgage through good times and very bad times but if my job goes, then with only a couple of years left on my payments, I'm going to lose my home.

Bet the goverment won't bail me out!

What a nice post - you are good folks.

Personally I am working my last week of redundancy notice and will leave this Friday - there are half of us going. It's a weird feeling knowing you are going and yet still being there.

It was rough for a week then I thought - well at least this is the start of the growing season so I can do stuff in the garden.
Then my OH came up with a list of jobs he wanted doing, then my mum wanted help moving house, then my friend wanted me to help her clear her house for the builders, and now I am so busy for the next few months!!

To cap it all 2 agencies rang me yesterday with talk of jobs - not good one, not well paying, but work nevertheless. Then the boss [the cheeky devil] said he wanted me back as soon as he could - 6 months he though.

Out of every darkness some sun comes along - sometime.

Last time this happened to it it was the best thing that could have happen - but I was down about it for months before I noticed. That is not going to happen this time.

Now if only I had got to the top of the allotment list that would make it all worthwhile...........

Either way it looks like I might be busier than before in one way or another, so that will help me.

Look after your friend Wayne - this can make a good friendship great. In a few weeks it is possible a small silver lining might glimmer.

Oh - and look after your job as well!!

cheer up wayne, not your fault, do you have survivors guilt? at least your safe for now, your friends may find its the best thing, they may land their dream jobs.
