i have one of them small plastic greehouses which last year was fab (just a bit too small) so i started some seeds off and was hoping for the best depite recent frosts etc however i went out yesterday and the greenhouse was blown over in the wind and not only ruined the seeds but also the trays they were in and the greenhouse is damaged beyond repair and i had a apple tree next to it which has snapped from the greenhouse falling onto it.

Gutted!

this is the best bit.

i have a lean to attached to my house which is a rotting but completely water tight so i said to OH that i could keep my seeds in there and just use it as a greenhouse, he said no and started ranting about how my gardening takes over everything, he's never been bothered by it before i now i just feel really rubbish about the whole situation!

Same thing happened to me last year, i had two of those growbag green house things, went on holiday and came back to them blown to bits all over my garden (even after weighing them down) and all my tom plants battered and snapped, totally gutted, but i replanted them and they grew back, unfortunatley blight got to them...
I have a very old lean too attached to the side of my house which i use as a large cold frame, it doesnt get the sun, luckily my oh is understanding about my "stuff" being everywhere,that is only because he is allowed a very large spare room to himself for all his computer s**t ( sorry meant to say retro consoles and games) ahem...

Commiserations.... i had one of those upright plastic thingies and it was very rusty and falling apart and one day it did and all my seedlings got mixed up and some got lost completely ...but the apple tree is a bummer...cant it be saved?

Rotten luck! They really do need serious anchoring down. As for Himself - what hobbies does he have? And can you eat them when he's finished? I think he's being unreasonable but then I would, wouldn't I? Don't be put off. Best of luck.

I have two of those and not only are they weighted down but also tied by the hooks that are on the back of the cover, it could rip but so far so good, but then my garden is sheltered by six foot high fencing. Very wet very windy today.
Hope your apple tree not too badly damaged.

What a shame Rainbowbrite. Pity it wasn't the rotten old lean to that blew down then you could have claimed the insurance and got a nice one.

You could wait until your OH calms down then just move your seeds in there. It's your house too.

if you decide to get another little plastic greehouse put up (and I would) then try putting a couple of concrete slabs on the bottom shelf, this is what I did when I had one - it kept the darn thing in one place without the loss of space on the bottom shelf.

Oh no, big hugs. I have such a lump in my throat for you. Not just because of your greenhouse but for the attitude of your OH. It really saddens me to hear that someone you love can be SO unsupportive. I'm going to give my dh a big kiss now... he's not very interested in gardening either but does all the grotty dirty digging stuff for me without ever complaining.
Please don't be disheartened. As has been suggested go to the Lidl sale and see what you can start again. And maybe talk to your OH about how bad you feel and how he might want to support you better - tell him Marthaclematis is MOST UPSET by his behaviour and will be sending Martha Cat round to sort him out - she takes no prisoners does that cat.

thanks for all the support, you lot really are fab! i'm defo going to head over to Lidl and replace some things, not sure about the apple tree, i've been avoiding the garden like a stroppy teenager since it happened.

i'm also thinking i just caught OH at a bad moment cuz i caught him out in garden yesterday trying to mend the greenhouse (it really really can't be saved though). thanks again for letting me rant and for the hugs.

I'm really sorry to hear about your gh and seeds. I've got one of those but fortunately its stayed up. I did wait mine down at the bottom with slabs and bricks though. I hope OH buys you a nice new one and theres still loads of time to sow more seeds so don't give up
