There was an article in Time magazine lately about Twitter, and one comment I remember was to the effect that instead of asking how someone is, you find out because they post it. That seems to me to miss the point. You ask how your friends are as a way of telling them that you CARE how they are!Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

i think some people love FB (ie: me) it kept me company as my marriage fell apart, as he didnt speak to me! I have met some new friends, male and female, I have found old friends I didnt think I would speak to ever again, I keep in contact with family across the miles, especially my sis in NZ as her broadband is so rubbish over there i can post pics of the kids and she can see them, instead of not receiving them on email! I have 290 friends on FB and no its not a race or an achievement, apart from a handful I have met and know them all!
Sorry folks, but I for one love FB and somehow without it, I may be extremely unhappy and lonely! some people may find that sad, but I dont care, I dont accept everyone who clicks on my name, but you know what its a lovely way of communicating and keeping in contact and even though its no way as good as being in the same company as someone face to face, it comes a close second when you cant be there.
Happy Bookfacing everyone, its not for all, but it could be all for one! x

FB is great ... I just went to a great party, and was able to send photos of the party straight to my faceache account, so all my friends can see how daft I look, before I am sober enough to know betterAll gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.

I love 'meeting' folk on a forum like this, and a friendship can develop from doing so, but from there it is e-mail, or chat on WLM that suits me. Others may see it differently, and that is all to the good, but I just don't see anything in these things (and there are plenty, which appear to be 'variations on the theme') that I want and can't get elsewhere!Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

Facebook is simple.
If you don't get it, don't use it. If you do, do.
I don't think anyone should be thought less of because they do use it. Equally I don't think anyone should be thought less of because they don't use it.Last edited by HeyWayne; 22-06-2009, 10:04 AM.A simple dude trying to grow veg. http://haywayne.blogspot.com/

A couple I know recently went away on holiday with their (older teenage) kids to a remote area of the country. They had no mobile phone coverage / internet etc. When they came back they made the comment that they had talked to each other and got to know their kids more in that week than in the previous year. Whilst they'd probably taken it to extreme, they had got into the habit of all sitting on laptops / PCs on online forums / social sites and despite the fact that they were in the same room didn't really talk to each other. Had they not had a break, my friend firmly believes that it could have split up their marriage. OK, so popping on now and then isn't a problem but, as with many things, it can get out of hand. They now have a computer curfew in their house and seem much happier.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
