  • Growing season all blown away

Work has gone from the sublime to the rediculous. From Christmas to now I have only worked 3 full weeks.

From Monday I will be working away in Stafford for 2 weeks, then in Mansfield for three and then in Quatar for 5. I will get home at the end of May.

Two weeks at home will let me get some stuff done but then I am on hols for a fortnight , get home at the begining of July and then go back to Quatar for 5 weeks, home for 2 then France for 2 on holiday.

    Then its September.

YIKES! Is the schedule 'set in stone' or is there a risk that some of it will fall apart Piglet?

      Eeee.. dear me ...

You're going to have to do what we're doing on our lottie back 'home' ...spuds and globe artichokes and sweetcorn with squash ( and a few beans) all well mulched.
We will have 6 weeks between trips- maybe longer - so at least we'll get a good crop of something.

That's tough Piglet. But I suppose in the present economic climate people just have to go where the work is. Hope it works out the best it can for you and Piglette can manage some of the growing.

Some of the workmen who were working on my conservatory got paid off at the end of the job as they had no more work. I felt really upset for them. I think things are tough for a lot of people now.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

A tan Flum Mum, twill be 40 degrees in Quatar in May and 50 in July. The south of France in August will feel like Skeggy on a November day after that.

I am not looking forward to it at all, all my tomatoes in the hands of Mrs P, AAAGGHHHHH

The worst part of that schedule is the 'working in Mansfield' bit. As someone who lived there for the first twenty odd years of my life I have no hesitation in calling a right s%&t hole.

You have my sympathy. Don't venture out after dark.
It is the doom of man, that they forget.

Don't knock Mrs P, she's the only one who will look out for your toms and all the other bits and bobs when your'e gone.
Your year is well and truly mucked up though.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.
