1600 seems steep. You should shop around.

Its a few years since I first needed car insurance but I used elephant/admiral as this company specialises with less experinced drivers I think. Now I use a different company that is cheaper as I have no claims built up. Also try and see what other ways you can reduce the premium. I know when I added my then girlfriend as a second driver the premium dropped! She drove the car about once or twice in a year but I guess it puts you in a different demographic which they determine less of a risk.

You should be able to get £500 or less - unless its parked on road in a dodgy area etc..

Good for you Petal - go for it! I started towing at 19. My Dad wouldn't pick up my horse bedding and Hay, but he loaned me his 4x4 and trailer. He made me hitch it up myself (and checked it when he thought I wasn't looking), and made me get on with it. It's the only way to learn! Since then I've towed horses, caravans, diggers, dumpers, trees, Land Rovers and even a coach . I'll now tow anything anywhere.

Do it, you won't regret it.

What is it for a Smart forTwo?

Only capable of carrying two people and at 900cc not exactly sporty, pre-2009 NCAP rating is 4*.
