Wow! Thanks all for signing! 19 signatures in 24 hours, not bad going at all! Now, all we need is for the Powers That Be to take some notice and we can all (or at least those who want to) move off into the woods and start living our dreams!!

PS Please feel free to pass the petition details around as far and wide as you can, lets drive the signatures as high as we can in the hopes that they listen to us!
        Blessings

Lol Snadger! Knowing how hard you work on your plots, and how much valuable experience you have of many aspects of life (and skills you've shown on here), then you'd be more than welcome to join us on any eco village that we were to become involved with! PS You aint old, barely middle aged yet chuck!

Hi Mrs Dobby - I'm going to sign it, but would be interested in knowing why special planning permission is needed (forgive my ignorance!). Do you have any online info you could link to?

Land with planning permission to build a house is ridiculously expensive, way beyond the means of most folks, but land without planning permission (agriculutural or forest land for instance) is much cheaper, yet it can prove almost impossible to get planning permission to build, especially if what you are planning to do (live in a self build eco house constructed in non standard materials such as earth sheltered, straw bale construction, recycled materials, or temporary structures such as benders, teepee or yurt) is live on the land in a sustainable way. You can even be forced to move off the land you own if you dont have permission to use it for residential activities, even parking a caravan on it can get you into serious trouble!

Those pioneers at eco villages such as Tinkers Bubble, Kings Wood, etc have had to fight for permission to live on their land, taking a huge gamble in building and living how they see fit without permission, in the knowledge that they could be evicted and their low impact homes destroyed by bulldozers at any time.

It is for this reason that we need to consider another type of land, permaculture land, land designated for those that wish to to live on and live in a sustainable way, without the threat of being evicted for no good reason!

The links below will give you some background into why we need to start looking at alternative ways of living right now, before it becomes too late!
