Our neighbour (a lawn freak) has been at his for few weeks now. Always looks imaculate. I often wonder about paying him to do ours...
OH hates mowing the lawns (or the weedery as I like to call it) and if I m lucky they get done once a month. The lawn isn't quite big enough for a ride on (if it was he would never be off the darn thiing I am sure) so he has a large petrol mower and it's way too heavy for me. The front lawn (or the mossery as I like to call it) gets no direct light, shaded by trees and buildings looks awful. I don't know what to do with it as we already have hard standing for 9 cars and a garage so don't need extra parking. My dad mows this one for me with his diddy one as the big petrol one won't get over the bumps lol.
OH did actually say this morning he might have to mow the lawn soon - I nearly fell off the step with shock. Mind you he did says he was only 'thinking' about it lol We also need a short cut where the cooker glass dropped last summer to make sure we got it all up.
We use to have a petrol mower but I couldn`t get on with it so the OH use to have to mow the lawn.
But to mow the lawn you have to pick up the dog poo, which he also hates doing.....So he brought an electric mower and guess who now mows the lawn and picks up the dog poo...... You guessed it ME

We have a petrol mower. Mr T is thinking of buying a new one (that works!). Problem is, the one he wants is 699 Euros - we don't;
a. have 699 euros
b. have anything even remotely resembling a lawn!!!!!!
It's more of a 1/2 acre steep geranium and clover patch.
Was just about to mow the front (really can't be bothered to do the back...) but hooray, can't find lawn mower lead. So am officially off the hook until The Boss gets back and finds it... ergh.
So exited it's spring (been outside all day pottering and planting bulbs and seeds) and VERY exited about summer and BBQ's - but DREADING lawn mowing. I have a flymo for around quarter of an acre - seriously need to buy a new mower.
Charlie x "Erm, if you havn't got anything on that windowsill, can I use the space?"
I have such a tiny patch of lawn that we cut it with kitchen scissors. It looked a right state after the winter though and the boy had been digging holes all over it, so I made good use of the weather today and dug the whole lot up! Discovered we only had 1" of topsoil and just loads of horrid sandy builders soil and stones underneath and it was ridiculously compacted. Didn't see a single worm either. So I've mixed in some old compost, some general fertiliser and resown it with new grass seed and some mint seed (doesn't matter if it spreads). Then I made a temporary fence from bamboo canes so the boy can't get on it again until the grass is up. Hopefully we'll have a decent lawn this summer!
Well, the orchard (dog loo) grass has grown long enough to hide the dog poo so I've dropped a big hint to His Lordship that this week may be a good idea

At last, I`ve done half of mine today, which took about 2 hours, with the blade set on number 3 as it`s still quite wet out there. I will try to do the other half tomorrow.
