Your numbers have come up and you've won a million pounds.
What would you do?
How do you think it would change your life?
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. ~Author Unknown
Pay off mortgages, sell house and move to the place in Spain (and improve that quite a bit, needs another windmill, irrigation system based on 'grey water', etc) buy the one next door (half mile away) for daughter and SIL to do up, then they could look after ours when we want to spend a bit of time in UK, and we could look after theirs likewise.
Then we could grow food, keep chooks etc (and bees) and not worry about thieves breaking in while we aren't there!
Son would benefit from paying off mortgages, because his business is also our pension fund, once it doesn't have such a massive debt on it.
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
I would pay off the mortgage, get the house and garden how I want them. Both need a lot of work. That would take about half of it.
I`ve always wanted to go to Canada and New Zealand, so I would go there why the house and garden was done.
Save some for my sons education.
Give some to the relatives.
I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person.
£1M would be enough to give up work, then take some time to look at what we wanted to do, whether it would be enough for us to find our dream smallholding and / or land to build our eco dream home is another thing, if not, then give up work, pay off debts and mortgage and buy a few acres locally that we could raise chucks, pigs and goats on.
If we could afford to buy the right land / place, then we'd look at building our own earth sheltered home, totally off grid and go as self sufficient as it was possible to do, GYOing our fruit and veg and raising chooks, pigs, goats, perhaps a housecow and a few sheep.
I'd love to do it, I know how hard it would be and home much work it would take, but it would be a challenge, and knowing we wouldnt be beholden to anyone else would be great!
it'd be my chance to not have financial woes and to buy a modest small holding or a nice cottage with a fairly decent amount of land... nothing too big though, and then to not have to worry about money for the rest of my life, allowing me to do the job i want to do however low paid without having to worry about lack of cash! it would simply ease the pressure and get me a decent home... i dont want any more than that!
i would be able to afford to fence my plot and perhaps put a shed on it and see if i'm allowed to pump water from the river to water it.Also perhaps housing for a goat. Also a piece of land up on the causse with oak trees so i could be self sufficient in wood (heating) and then when the roof needs seeing to next i could afford solar panels (hot water) oh! then i could also repair the barn (garage) roof and maybe convert the side bit and loft into a little apartment for when people come to stay and then ask the mayor if i can build a swimming pool for the village and get free entrance for the rest of my life....but all of this only after making sure the kids were OK.
Well apart from the obvious of paying off my mortgage and those I love...........
I could put #1 son through Uni without feeling sick with worry
Buy a house with enough land to grow lots of veg and keep a sway back gentle horse who would transport me sedately round the local countryside
I would build an extension for MrH to keep his little men in! ooops sorry meant to say historically accurate minatures....honest
