This 'should people chat?' question gets raised again, and again...
For me, I think this section is the heart of the forum; people keep coming back because the warmth and friendship developed here spreads through the rest of the sections. People have friendly banter within the advice threads, Seed Swap, Rule the Roost etc., and that warm feeling is what makes people want to come back. As has been said before, we're not just a forum, we're a community, and this chatty nature has been a part of the community right from the word go. For me, even having to read every thread now, long may it continue.

Anyway, Zazen's busy today, so I'd be very grateful if this potential for bickering here didn't go any further...

but talking about affairs, thrush, etc etc on a gardening forum just kinda lowers the overall tone of the forums ..... if anyone IS having an affair, keep it to yourselves ..... if anyone has thrush or an itch or growth or discharge or whatever, go see the doc or get some cream, no need to tell everyone on here .....

seriously ..... take a step back .... this is / was a veggie growing forum ..... if a newbie comes in and clicks new posts, they see a lot of trash and personal nonsense and not a lot of veggie growing stuff ..... they see "cliques" and it's very easy to feel left out ...... even "veterans" feel excluded ......
while "anything goes" is fair enough, it doesn't mean it's right, fair, or good to trash the site and fill it with nonsense and personal crap that would be better posted privately or posted elsewhere ........

as a moderator, you do need to keep in mind that this forum doesn't exist just for the X and Y show ........

I'm sorry, but I'll have to temporarily close this thread if you don't chill a bit - I've got spammers to bin
