Hey, I was patrolling with boards til 2.30am, and I didn't say I was still in bed, just 'lounging'
Shirley, really glad to see you Was getting a little worried, hope you're feeling more yourself now?

Don't really miss any actual individuals (don't take it personally but you're not my real friends, they're they guy's a know in real life who I'd call if I had a problem, for all I know you lot could all be something quite different to the image you portray over the internet, probably not but you get the point!) and would find it pretty weird if anybody missed me if I were on holiday, away for a bit etc etc. However, I do miss general back up of some of the gardening gurus who I could guarantee a realiable response from pretty quickly when I first joined. I know I'm not supposed to make the point about what people are and aren't allowed to chat about but I find it quite frustrating when an initial query about a gardening issue (on the gardening section of the forum) gets highjacked by somebody talking about their baby / car / hair / the price of fish. I don't want to chat all the time online about every detail of my life however lots of you. I don't understand why you want to and I presume you don't understand why I don't, do but can it be kept to the chat section then it's easy to avoid by those of us who couldn't care less! I'm probably guilty of taking things off line too so I'll take a certain share of the blame but there are some people who do it pretty much all the time and it makes me want to scream. Sorry and please feel free to delete if you want.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I have a cold today so I am stuck inside and have a lot of time to CHAT. And I love chat, I'm hooked on social media online. I have a few observations, if I may:
"just think it so rude to not accept when someone offers!"
I don't think it rude, even though my mother told me the same thing. It must be one of those myths, that get passed around, which people mimic without thought.
*ducks from incoming bullets*
And speaking of bullets, I hate the star wars/gun-toting motif of the moderators. I think they should be more like "facilitators" or ushers who politely show people the way - even if the job does sometime involve herding spammers off the cliff.
I first came to this forum via a google search for companion planting and continue to see it on google searches for growing related topics. I stayed because its friendly atmosphere helped to remind me that there are still nice people in the UK (and I've met some real ice-queens and kings in this country). The forum therefore seems to be doing its job still.
If someone feels like social media is a bad thing and cannot seem to pull themselves away from off-topic forum banter, there are always those neat little programs that block certain websites or even certain sections of websites for parents. I use K-9 Web Protection myself and it's even free.
