Also missing are Andrewo and Trousers and Wellie.
Do check out the Skirt's blog.
She's around, but will thank you for missing her, I am sure.

I'm spending more and more time helping to develop and test software for a mobile phone which is taking more and more of my time as we get nearer to releasing it.
Nice to know that I've been missed. Thanks for caring .
BTW none of what I have said above should be taken as an attack on anyone - things/people/priorities/life change. In all forums(fori?) people come and go- don't read to much into it.There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore and who always will. Don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it in your future.

I find a real affinity with my 'intake' when that vine had just a couple of thousand members; a serious respect for the 'veterans' who were doling out advice when I first joined; and now enjoy the exuberance of the 'new gang' now that we're up to many times that when I 'dip in'.
I don't pretend to try and keep on top of it all as I once did, of course, but still find a great deal of useful (not to say thoughily entertaining!) information on here.
Now that's made me sound like I'm about 300 years old!

Someone on here said that the Vine is potentially becoming a victim of its own success, I think this it true of all forums - there is a start-up period, a growing period and then a 'too big' period. I'm not saying the Vine is too big, but the bigger the forum the more difference in characters and therefore the more potential for falling out/misunderstanding you get.
But in the main, people come and poeple go - that reflects 'real life' I believe.
Like H, I don't try to keep up anymore, I leave that to the Mods I have gotten selective in my reading/posting - again, that is just progression on a forum on my part.
Don't I spout a load of old crappola before breakfastaka

Even though there are lots of peeps we are missing from the vine and loads of new peeps joining its still only a few that post on a regular basis, lots of the new peeps only post to say hello then you never hear from them again. ( not all I know ). This time of year everyone is busy, and lots of us are worried about keeping jobs etc.
I am sure some of them will come back.Gardening ..... begins with daybreak
and ends with backache

i have to agree with that .... and with beefy's comment about the vine having taken a different direction .... i used to get a lot of very useful advice from "veterans", but now the vine is less about growing, more about people's life troubles, etc ..... and a handful of people have far too much time on their hands and seem to spend all day on here joining in just about every thread, often with little relevance to growing etc ..... and sometimes it's far too personal ..... i read something about someone having thrush and ..... i mean, do i REALLY want to know that?
i don't think the vine is "too big" .... it's just full of nonsense and irrelevant stuff and that causes a loss of focus on the original purpose of the forum ..... and without wishing to cause offence, some people just need to get real lives and spend a little less time on here ......
Isn't most of the 'off topic' stuff in the 'off topic' section (ie HERE)? Isn't that the IDEA of an 'off topic' section (and in particular 'general chitchat)?
Those who want to stay 'on track' could simply avoid this section, couldn't they?????
Maybe I'm just being too obvious.Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

I am guilty of posting 'too much' but in my defence (not that I am apologising) - I work from home alone so it is easy to be here often - it is my coffee-break time, so I chat rubbish - I do it in 'real life' so why wouldn't I on here.
If 'you' don't like the chat, why click on the section?
I, personally, find the Count to a Million thead totally pointless and mind-numbingly boring - so I don't click on it, I did once, I don't any more. I do, however, accept that many do like it - so get on and enjoyaka
