If it's duck feather and down filling contained in a cotton outer shell perhaps you could compost it. Don't add the feathers to the heap on a windy day LOL.
Crikes Shirl I always used to use them under the old jute rugs - they were a nightmare in those days especially when the showjumpers needed two under the rugs, would find them hanging down and trodden on thank god for quilted rugs I say.
I reckon the dogs home is a good bet, my lot would love a duvet.....

We used to cut out neck shaping and put velcro on the outside of duvet and inside of the rug to keep them together

I was amazed when OH went to the dry cleaners to ask how much to clean the quilt Smokey had drenched with amniotic fluid. It's only a polyester one, but a double, so too big for the washing machine. He was quoted £18 . That wasn't dry clean, it was washing in their industrial washing machine and tumble drying. It only cost around £10 from Dunelm Mill last summer. I said I'd wash it in the bath and drip dry it, he said chuck it and we'll buy another.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!
Now a little Shrinking Violet.
