Since I never carry any money with me I have not got this problem at all. Long time ago we discovered that if I have money I spent it, no idea on what, but it went. Now as I NEVER go out om my own there is no problem now.
Mind books on gardening are frequent purchases, both new and second hand.
Last measurement I had 16 metres of shelf space of Gardening books. Does that count as cannot stop?

Erm, I think so Palustris! We have books piled up - not enough bookshelf space.

Lakeland also have a branch in Chester, you could catch your OH unawares OWG and suggest a pleasant afternoon walk around the walls and feign surprise when you see the shop! My OH actively encourages me to buy things we don't need as it means I can't have a go at him for doing the same.......

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Plants, I can't go past anything that is unusual or produces fruit. I bought another chilli plant today, I think I need help!

I'm also in the chocolate tasting club (love the stuff) I tend to buy DVDs, magazines, books and CDs, much to the despair of OH

I got so addicted to buying old penguins at one point Mr E banned me from second-hand bookshops as we had no space for them other than boxes in the attic, which kind of defeats the object. At the moment I'm buying books on "energy medicine" but I'd like more art books. Thames and Hudson do a fab range. Unfortunately I get puzzled looks when I babble on about the Bauhaus, Kandinsky and Paul Klee.

'fraid you've lost me as well! although went to the Tate in Liverpool with a mate recently, then took her to the Anthony Gormley (her fave artist) statues on Crosby beach as a surprise on the way home - she was well impressed! and I'm learning not to open my big mouth and say exactly what I think about something in the middle of an art gallery! (even if it is rubbish!) DDL

That's part of the fun. It's lovely to see the horror on the faces of people who take it all soooooo seriously. The best thing is to know what you do and don't like and just enjoy.

funny thing was EB - there was actually piles of old bits of old cars and tyes etc. - I had to put my hand in my mouth and do a very quick exit! yes, it was a load of old rubbish! bit like what you would find on a disused allotment! - and they get prizes for doing it! DDL

Books. We have at least 2000. Not to mention the piles of boxes full in the cellar.
I just can't part with any. It's a pretty substantial range too. we did actually have it by category and roughly alphabetical a few years back but now it's back to jumbled shelves and piles everywhere. Some I've had for over 30 years and still can't resist buying a few every week.
Seeds. Ah well lets not even go there. My seed hoarding makes my book collection look positively frugal.
