I bought a paint scraper from Wilko today and was asked to prove my age

Even the kids in my class start guessing at 28 !

It's not flattering actually, it's ruddy irritating because I don't carry anything with my age on (you don't need a license to ride a bike ... yet).

I think it's 18 because it has a sharp blade, so comes under the knife laws.

Amusing/flattering if you have the proof they want, but I can see how annoying it would be if you didn't have anything!

Perhaps the sales assistant had broken their glasses that morning...

A while back I noticed that the checkout boys & girls started to ring for supervisor when I was buying a bottle of wine in the supermarket. I was flattered until I realised it was because they were under 18, and not because I looked under 21.

They never want to see it! It's just to remind them to ask if they think I'm 'on the cusp' so to speak! I did once say to a young man 'Do me a favour and ask me if I'm old enough!' Bless him, he did!
