Wooohooohooohoo, thank god - I was beginning to think that you'd never be able to move into that beautiful farmhouse of yours.

I'm so looking forward to a viewing next time I'm back in Blighty

So glad for you darling. Give everyone a huge big Franglaise hug (don't squeeze BC too hard) and then get the bubbles out.

    Kiss kiss to you all.

Oh well done! I hope you are 'relaxing' in a very celebratory way. Having only bought one property in my life (so far...), I can say it was the singularly most stressful thing I have ever done!

I hope it all goes well from here.

Congratulations Trousers and Wellie . I hope your new home is all you wish it to be.
There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore and who always will. Don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it in your future.

Sarzwix - I'd packed the glasses, so I had to have a coffee mug of Bubbles, which I had whilst bathing before going out this evening.

Oh good, at last it has come together! Now keep an eye on that solicitor, because you may need to be a bit 'aware' in case of anything unexpected (but if you have a friend who is a solicitor, you will have someone there who can tell you what to look out for).
Me, I expect the worst from solicitors, although I have met some who were excellent!
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

Kind of 'poetic justice' really I suppose, but we received a letter from THE Solicitor today, asking if my buyer could possibly pick the keys up upon Completion from them, rather than THE Estate Agent Office, because it would be more 'CONVENIENT' FOR HER?
My (allegedly) Solicitor is but a mile or so from her.
The Estate Agent (working for me or her?) is a good 10 miles away.

Can I also get your comments on this next bit?

My Solicitor wants my forwarding address, so that they can send the cheque for the balance of the sale of my cottage to my new address?!

Please Please tell me that I'm not going mad and that there IS such a thing as doobry-wotsit immediate transfer, so that when Completion does happen, that my Solicitor should, and is perfectly able to transfer the funds directly to the building society account number that I instruct them to, rather than them requesting a forwarding address to send the balance cheque to?! Or has The Law changed, according to Trousers? I DON'T THINK SO TROUSERS!! You can tell that we're fighting, can't you!?!
And I know for a fact, that I have to have an 'S' in front of my account number for it to reach my account, rather than 'float' in the open system to be retrieved.
But why would a Solicitor want to send me a cheque for the balance of when the mortgage and stuff's been paid off? Why not electronically transfer my balance to my chosen account directly? surely?
