  • Analysis of threads

    Afternoon Grapes.

There were a few concerns recently about the amount of non-gardening chit chat on this Forum. So, to get some ides of the issue, I decided to make a random analysis of the threads and their content.

I took a reading at 7pm on thursday and another today, giving an average of 3 1/2 days useage. I'm sure I could get more technical, but I wanted a general idea, and half a week seemed a good place to start.

So, 217 new threads have been started in that time period.

Out of those, 48 were started in this Board 'General Chit Chat'.

Out of those, I have taken an analysis of the most recent 60, as a fair amount are long running threads.

32% of the 60 were gardening related, and 68% aren't.

So, putting those figures back into the originals calcs, it would seem that 18.8% of the threads started on this forum are not gardening related, which means that 81.2% are.

    That's not a bad result.

    As you were.

        Analysis of threads

Very impressive Andrea, that must have taken some time to do, and the result is a blow for those that were griping about The Vine not being enough garden related.

So maybe we can all now get on with the serious gardening and leave those who just want to chat in peace.

There is room on here for allsorts of people and therefore allsorts of threads, but you did an excellent job proving it.

Gardening should always be a pleasure and never a chore, only someone forgot to tell the weeds

As there are now over fifteen thousand members registered on the vine.............the balance must be pretty good to attract this amount!

I have 685 members in my experimental forum. Only 4 are real people, I am pretty sure.
