Hi everyone,
As well as being a keen gardener, I'm also into amateur theatre. I'm not in this show but thought some of you in the area may want a night out at the theatre
The Mellow Dramatics society are presenting Cole Porter's Broadway treasure: 'Kiss Me, Kate' from Tuesday 12th - Saturday 16th May 2009 at The Brewhouse Arts Centre in Burton on Trent, Staffordshire DE14 1EB.
Tuesday Evening and Saturday Matinee: £7.50
Wednesday to Saturday Evenings: £8.50
Available from the Brewhouse Box Office on 01283 508100
Combine Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew" with Porter's music and lyrics to get KISS ME, KATE an instant success with every cast and audience. This is a play-within-a-play where each cast member's on-stage life is complicated by what is happening offstage. Musical numbers include Why Can't You Behave, So In Love Am I, Wunderbar, Tom, Dick or Harry, Were Thine That Special Face, Too Darn Hot, Brush Up Your Shakespeare, I Hate Men, Always True to You (In My Fashion) and Another Op'nin, Another Show. KISS ME, KATE is fun, melodious and sophisticated.
This classic show features some of Cole Porter's best known songs. With a comically complicated plot and a score that is "Too Darn Hot" we are confident that "Kiss Me Kate" will prove to be "Wunderbar" in the eyes (and ears) of our audience.
Hope to see some of you there! If you can drag yourself away from your garden in May
