Free seeds not spuds!yep enjoyed the programe, even the childish bit with the growbags! wasn't going to send for the seeds cos thought would leave for newbies but I've sent off for them now for my grandson:-)
I am busy shredding newspaper to do Alys experiment with the spud bags. The shredded paper would certainly bulk up the bag and cut down on the amount of compost you need to use. I didn't think they were going to have my spuds on tonight but they sneaked them in at the end. Very short drills for a garden that size. I hope they have planted the special varieties I sent them somewhere in the garden. I can see me making some raised beds this weekend.

I missed Alys's experiment as phone rang What did she do?
i learnt something from the programme today which is that you have to buy new parsnip seeds every year......no wonder i have problems .....i expect a packet of seeds to last me at least two years ......

She put the spuds on top of 4" of compost then covered with a layer of shredded paper and gently scattered a layer of compost on top of the paper.
It will certainly save on compost. Could be more videos getting done tomorrow.

Hopefully it didn't necessitate her using a hammer
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Thanks tattieman. A vid would certainly help, I'll be watching
I've just heard Polyculture mentioned on Gardener's World, it sounds really interesting, does anyone have any further links, books etc that they can recommend.

I have just watched the worst Gardeners world Program ever.
the program was like a cross between Blue peter and the flower pot men.
some idiot who has a garden gnome sanctuary (I can Hardly type the words without feeling nauseous) was a total waste of time the presenters should be sent there they are as completely wooden as some of the Gnomes.
I have always liked Carol Klien she has a lot of enthusiasm for gardening and a lot of knowledge, but in this series she is as wooden as the rest of the team .The production is dreadful, the content is so amateurish, the main presenter Toby Buckland was the worst, he presentation style sounded as if he was talking to children, he then hammered some bits of wood together to make a load of rubbish you could put on the garden wall (or the bonfire)
There are not many decent gardening programs to watch most of them are rubbish, but Gardeners World was about real Gardening, not about a makeover or other such nonsense. Percy Thrower , Geoffrey Smith, Geoff Hamilton ,and
Monty Don were real Gardeners. presenting a real gardening Program. Bring Back The Real Gardeners World
What do you think of the new stile Gardeners World?
I don't think much of the new chap I think Carol Klein would have done a better job , and the chap with the gnomes was a waist of Gardeners World time . And they are trying to be a cross between Spring Watch and Top Gear with the what hot and whats not board . What do you think about it?.

Me and OH thought it was Blue Peter meets MasterChef (with respect to the knockout as to who gets trained by Carole Klein), a complete waste of time.
