You could say that if you've got nothing better to do than to BE on a gardening forum, you've got too much time on your hands.

We've all got reasons for doing what we do...whatever that may be. If it isn't hurting anyone, then all must be well with the world.

I'm pretty sure the press release said they would be working on 'small garden' principles (a la St Geoff) - hope so

LOL nope my garden ain't big enough and no I don't have enough time for a lottie so won't take one when it can hopefully go to someone who can make it more productive than me. I choose to spend a few hours here as a opposed to watching the telly, that's what makes life great each one of us is different and makes different choices.

If we were all the same, life would boring

Oh and as to the numbers, the only thing it tells me is I spend WAY to much time here

I and the boss thought it was excellent, they have brought fun back into gardening which we missed from Titchmarsh era.

As for the plot being big, in the write up the ground will be split into several area's i.e. several standard type front & rear gardens, kitchen garden and allotment type garden etc...

Also the plot has been designed for camera's and crew and that is why everything is just that bit bigger than the norm.

Quickest Hours TV for a while and hope for more of the same and also hope that the news bit at the end stays (Including Hot/Cold) as I think that was what was missing from previous era's.

It did have a lot of Blue Peter silly bits. Who has tree planting races? Get real fellas! And I think he was done being charged £40 for a knackered windowframe with broken glass in! Strewth! They butchered a perfectly good shed to produce something with a patchy shanty town look.

However, if they can stop being daft lads for a bit - I'll reserve judgement.
Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

I liked it. And Alys ain't so posh, she uses pencils to tie her hair up with.

ETA: I'm typing this whilst having a coffee break from potting up my toms, aubergines and peppers and weeding on a beautiful day!

Sorry but I think Toby could do with a personality transplant! I hate the hand held cameras, and Jo Swift needs to speak directly to the camera, not over the camaramans shoulder. I yearn for AT and G hamilton, but will try to access Beechgrove Garden on the iplayer for a "proper gardening programme".

I tried jogging, but I couldn't keep the ice in my glass.

I liked it though I do know what you mean about Toby's "hello boys and girls!!... guess what we're doing today...?" (a trifle smug and patronising, I try not to notice) I'm sure it will settle down, maybe he was nervous. I love the fact that they've moved to a new spot, people like me who are very new to gardening can see what can be done with some bare earth and hard work - and yes, some of us with tiny new gardens NEED a bit of instant gratification - and i don't see what's wrong with buying a pot of daffs in bloom just for the first year. I know for old hands its all rather 'yes, we KNOW.. please get on with it..' but for us 'learners' it really is new. Perhaps you need to go find something more challenging. Even I thought the tree-planting was a blue peter step too far but it did get the method across.... I mean how many ways can you show someone how to plant a tree? And how many ways has it been done already? I for one did learn something - sadly that i've planted my begonias to deep and upside down (I have asked for help on that on another threadon that if anyone would care to help). I'm looking forward to the transformation... its a big plot but the way i 'get it' is to see each section as a minature version of what i might have in my tiny patch - just scaled down that's all.

I enjoyed it, and thought Toby was great and loved the idea of the new garden, new presenter putting his mark on it if you ask me.
i loved the shed especially the fork and spade handles! I also loved the greenhouse gotta get me one of those!!!
Also thought the bit at the end was great. We are in the 21st Century after all.

I really enjoyed gardeners world last night, so much that I will watch it again on i player. They showed you how to make a compost bin out of wooden pallets - fantastic!

Isn't that the point of Gardeners' World? I always thought it was primarily to inspire and encourage the 'newbies' and nurture their enthusiasm, whilst also acting as an 'aide memoire' to the more accomplished watcher.

Each time it has changed format and presenter, I have disliked it, but then grown accustomed to the replacements without realising it!

Having said that, Bring back Uncle Geoff or Alan, or the lovely Monty!

Is it me, or does it appear they have already spent thousands of pounds on the infrastructure of the new garden..??
