Sunday evening would be a good time, a good couple of hours of horticulture, maybe an extended visual and practical version of Gardener's Question Time on Radio 4. But then I would probably watch anything to do with gardening

I'm not really watching gardeners world, why can't they make a purely vegetable series, called allotment world, now that I would find far more interesting.I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I think it would be nice if they did a series following a couple of National trust gardens, I always enjoy chatting to the gardeners about what they are growing, which heritage varieties they have got, and what recipes they like to cook with them.
The Victorian Kitchen Garden, was a classic series, but it could do with an updated version. One that shows the benefits of growing your own, while cooking some delicious seasonal recipes to boot, and preferably minus Jamie Oliver.I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

Hi all. Sadly, I lost interest in GW a long time ago. It got to the point that we were seeing more of the presenters talking about gardening, then any actual gardening being shown to be done. I felt it was just an excuse for the presenters to be on tv.
As for the coverage of Chelsea Flower show, I used to avidly watch it, record it and watch again. The plants were breathtaking and I always had a notepad and pen at the ready. Unfortunately, it went the same way as GW. More time talking to celebrities/ presenters than seeing the plants. The "gardens" created are artificial. To me Chelsea was always about the flowers...lots and lots and lots of them, not about the presenters and celebs. I won't be watching I'm afraid. However,I've just had a peek at the Beechgrove link and I will give that a try. Cheers.I'd give up chocolate but I'm no quitter!

Its like TV cookery programmes. There are lots of different types of those (prob too many) maybe we all just need more gardening variety!
I personally think that this year so far, the Chelsea show has shown many many flowers and has not been 'all' about the show gardens.
As with GW we all take different viewpoints and some of the stuff we have seen before, or already know about but they are obviously inspiring new gardeners to grow and be involved with their gardens which must be a good thing.
Seasoned gardeners must find it difficult to enjoy a gardening mag or book as these too are often aimed at new starters and assume little prior knowledge but often it is enjoyable to be reassured or reminded re gardening tasks and plant varieties etc.
And there is always the GW repeats that are on the gardening channels for those who resist change.BumbleB
