Was utterly amazed after the police eventually called at the plots. Two days after the fire!! Fire brigade apparently said no police presence required as the fire was not as a result of wilful fireraising. A shed nearby broken into and these two torched and that isn't wilful? Our chairman who is ex fire service has made an official complaint. Fire brigade probably just didn't want to have to wait around for the police. Mind you, if they have a two day wait every time, who can blame them.

The other thing which surprised me was the police said they were unable to remove possible sources of evidence from the site. A bow saw and an axe thrown out of the surviving vandalised shed may well have had fingerprints on them but because the police couldn't positively identify the owners they said they were not empowered to remove them. Sounds crazy to me. Would that still have applied if there had been a murder? The toe rags who torched these sheds could now have developed a taste for arson which could well lead to murder.

      A friend was recently burgled.

They caught the burglers with her stuff.

They had her wallet, but apparently that is not enough of a link to charge them...apparently they could have 'found' the wallet.

Luckily, they had also taken the sat nav, with her home address plugged in, which meant they could charge them.

Obviously they were just about to return it to the police, like honest citizens - NOT!

I'm not in favour of turning the clock back - there was bad as well as good in the past, y'know - but the law today is just ridiculous...

Srotes on my site last night or this morning.
Police won't let me log a call for the damaged shed, or, the damaged coldframe, as I am not the owner.
But I can log the damage to the fence as I am employed by the council as their site agent.

So if I witness someone stealing a roadsign will the police refuse to accept my call as I do not own it?
Always thank people who have helped you immediately, as they may not be around to thank later.

Last year our site was like a bonfire each night, nobody knew which shed would go up next... it really was that bad. After numerous complaints to the local policing team covering the lotties they got together with the firebrigade (I think they were fed up with attending, one night they were 5 pumps), and the council and called meetings. They set up Allotment Watch and we were issued with signs and personal walkie talkies (think this was going too far as they are not monitored). Touch wood, apart from someone sleeping rough in my woodpile then we have had no break ins. Just goes to show if you moan enough then it gets something done.
Just tell the police about their policing pledge - they are now monitored on this soley by the government and have to address what we feel are the communities priorities not what they feel is important.
