Yep, that tells me everything I need to know. Judi Dench quoted as an expert. Fluoride listed as an all-purpose evil. A bunch of nonsense is what it is. I just checked the Codex website. As far as I can see, they want bottled water labelled as containing fluoride when it contains fluoride. That's the closest to "FLUORIDE will be added to our tap water - fluoride makes us complacement and infertile." that your website link claims.

Sorry, I won't sign this petition and I hope others think twice before doing the same.

Not sure Dame Judi Dench is being quoted as an expert but someone who is giving their opinion. You are exercising your freedom of choice and I think thats great.

This has been known about for years (at least five that I've known)

It's all "could" "might" "possibly" "probably" etc etc

Most of it is along the lines of the youre not allowed to buy more than 16 asprins at any one time

This is the same type of thing, the number of tablets in any one bottle will be reduced the strength of certain products will be reduced etc etc

Some stuff may even be taken off the market if they haven't proved that it's safe or beneficial. GOOD. Quite frankly if they can't prove it's safe or beneficial they shouldn't be allowed to sell them.

I know, my son is allergic to asprin

But it is beneficial to others so I'm okay with that

I'm allergic to evening primrose and washing up liquid,

Washing up liquids have to be tested to prove that the majority of people won't have a problem so why shouldn't evening primrose

                  Hi Growem

Thanks for your reply. With the greatest respect I never asked anyone to sign the petition, if people wish to do so that is of their own free will and their choice. I never asked people to think once or twice or even sign the petition, you did. I included this in the original thread as an observation I have made whilst reading up on this subject.

Maybe I am a little confused but I presumed 'natural bottled spring water' or however it is advertised shouldn't contain Fluoride, as I understand this to a by product of the chemical industry? Maybe I am wrong.

What i find confusing is spring water fresh out of the ground is bottled and they put a use by date on it..
I read an article once that all the water in the world was made when the world was formed..jacob

Yes apparently the water we have now is the water that has always been here. No more no less.

Some substances have escaped earth's gravity due to an asteroid strike, and that would have included some water. But a comet hitting earth would also add water.

                          Hi MrsC,

I have no problem with you posting this, but you did ask for people's thoughts and I shared mine. Perhaps a bit bluntly, but honestly.

As for what's in a bottle of water, that is another kettle of fish. All I found on the Codex website was them wanting the manufacturers or bottlers of water to label the water as containing fluoride if it had been added. A sensible thing to ask for on the label, for anyone who might wish to avoid fluoride (for whatever reason), wouldn't you say?

Personally I'm more worried about the fluoride that an increasing amount of local authorities are putting in our drinking water as my tap doesn't seem to have any kind of label on it and I don't see why I should be medicated without my agreement. Don't care about bottled water as I think it's a rip off and don't buy it, find a reuseable bottle filled with the stuff out the tap is far preferable.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Alison, I think the argument over fluoride in tap water is another issue really. As I said, doing a search of the Codex website, I couldn't find anything about them wanting to put fluoride into all the tap water in the UK.

Growem, I personally don't think Alison is arguing over the point of 'Flouride' in tap water, she is merely giving 'her thoughts' and her opinions. Feel free to look into it and further than the official 'Codex' website. Personally, we all have different ways of growing on here and we all listen to and research what other people say in many different forms, whether that be internet, books or talking to a fellow gardener
