Bad night!

Well it was a very windy last night, and three pots have blown off the upper shelves in the greenhouse and chopped a lot of the growth off my potatoes in a tub which was on the floor. To add to that, inside the house my Pepper plant seems to have snapped in two, ok I thought I've got backups in the greenhouse (guess what's coming next); The pots that had blown off the shelves were my other Pepper plants!!!!! ;-(

ooooch,i have a small 4x6 poly greenhouse,i only rsited it yesterday,as i but a tray of plants on the narow shelf i thought,me no,the wind was hitting the sides and gave an indication of what would happen if left there,so i put them on the floor,if it's the only place you have,porhaps they would fair better on a table or what ever,independant of the sides,out the way of slugs,and into the warmer air higher up

I think the spuds might recover - I could be wrong, but I'm sure they're pretty resilient apart from frost...

Sorry to hear about the rest, it's so disheartening when stuff like this happens. Get sowing some stuff so that whole germination thing lifts the spirits again.

You can repot the other though???

My seedlings often get tipped up, or blown over. They just get replanted and a good feed [seaweed, I'm keen on at the moment], and alot do recover. The wind tipped over my french beans a couple of days ago, and I was astounded how rooted they were so they were repotted into a deeper pot and are going great guns now.

Gutting as it is I know,(I lost all my early sown broadies & peas when our greenhouse blew over),at least it happened now & you've still got time to catch up.
Have your indoor chillis actually snapped or just flopped right over?...a few of my early toms needed repotting yesterday,they'd flopped almost in half.I thought they'd snapped but on inspection the stems were in tact,so I found some even deeper pots & repotted(& now have my fingers crossed!,but they look fine this morning)

Ah...these things happen.....

Treat yourself to some ready grown pepper plants from a garden centre/nursery -just to keep yourself on target It'll cheer you up a bit!

I've put canes in the Pepper now, may have been the weight of the leaves. The problem seems to have been at root level. I've also repotted the fallen pots. The potatoes I have taken all the broken and damaged shoots and leaves off, so fingers crossed.

I could hear the wind howling round my garden last night too, and had memories of last year when my mini greenhouses got smashed to bits and everything was destroyed, feel for you, but its still early in the season yet, maybe you have still got time to get some more going??

My garden looked like a bomb site thie morning, it was also recycling day and the area was covered in newspaper etc.....did the binmen pick it up, not a chance, myself and 3 others collected the rubbish, then went to lottie, doesnt look too bad, everything still standing much to my relief, supposed to get bad again tonight, fingers crossed for everyone!
