    What is the difference between potting mix & potting soil?

    what does potting soil contain ?

    stupid question i know but i dont know the answer lol

    Very few answers here I'm afraid shaz! All I would say is that there are two main types of potting COMPOST.........soil based John Innes types, and peat/coir recycled matter based.
    Within these two types you would have a potting mix and a seed mix of each!

    Soil based is a mixture of loam,sand and peat with a John Innes base mix of fertiliser added.

    Peat/coir or recycled compost has some form of fertiliser added also.

    Clear as mud I bet?

      Thanks snadger but when advised to use potting soil and not potting mix, it started to make me think lol
