Since we got the cockerels our grandson has been referring to our allotment as 'Nanny's Farm'. This isn't a joke on his part, he's only three and really does think that two cockerels and a few crops equals a farm Trouble is he keeps looking for eggs (no hens yet). So, should I slip a shop-bought egg in the chicken house on Easter morning and risk confusing him forever? Bearing in mind this egg would have been 'laid' by a cockerel complete with date stamp. Or make him wait for the real thing from our soon-to-arrive hens. Normally I'd make him wait, but it IS Easter and he is getting very desperate.

Oh bliss!!!...it must be lovely to have such a problem!!!!
I'd go over the top..and get some chocolate mini eggs and all the medium sized choccie ones you can find and pop them in a basket with straw...and say the 'boys ' asked the Easter bunny to bring them esp for him!!!
Next year they will promise to bring 'real' ones if he prefers !!!!
Oh...I'd LOVE to see his face!!!!( hmm..does that man I'm ready to be a granny????)"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

Personally I wouldn't put one in but would involve him in the real and truthful search for a properly laid egg when you get hens.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Ok, going to go with the chocolate idea. I hadn't thought of that. The lady from a nearby plot did give me a couple of freshly laid, non-date-stamped eggs in case I decided to pop one in, but it looks like a choccie egg for Tom and a soft boiled egg-and-soldiers brekkie for me and OH tomorrow. Win winInto each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.
