Well just signed up and there doesn't seem to be many posts there. Maybe just taking a while to get started up?

Just hoping to get some land to grow on soon as there are so little allotments in my area and so many people wanting them.

Maybe we could set up our own land-share on the forum (more people reading it anyway)

Fingers crossed for me please. I've just had a contact from someone with a 20 by 50 ft garden, in return for some produce. No details like where it is, condition etc, but I've replied and hope to hear something more soon.
Interestingly, they haven't listed it on the website, though they have registered as an owner, so keep checking those emails

LANDSHARE website

Watched River cottage last night and at the end of the prog they advertised the landshare project. I have just been onto it and registered. It is a forum where people post pieces of land they are willing to share with folk to grow their own, i know there are grapes on the look out for more/some land so this may be a good place to check out.

I signed up a while back, there are some bits of land but non near enough here to be useful.

I know of one Grape who has had success, it's on here somewhere, can't remember who it is.

That might have been me Zazen. I posted about the website when it first went live, and then the fact that I'd successfully paired up with a garden owner. I'm hoping to get some piccies over the weekend to show what I've managed to do so far. I've got french and runner beans, peas, cougettes, pumpkins, tomatoes, caulis and cabbages in now, despite the fact that there was more work clearing it than I thought.

I just replied to a request for ground - as I am moving house one of the patches of ground I grow on will need a new caretaker - no problems at all. They say that they know some of the maps have incorrect placenames and they are trying to address this (a bad pun worthy of me there !), they seem to be on version two of the website already.
Great idea in principle, I have been walking around Aberdeen for years seeing neglected gardens, knowing of elderly people who find it all getting too much and wishing they could give someone the use of it, and thinking of all the thwarted gardeners who would give their eyeteeth to get in there. With a bit of luck before I move house I will be able to persuade a couple of owners to offer up their overgrown/litterfilled backies to wannabe veggie growers.

i think the concern i'd have is if the landowner moved house or died, all that hard work could be undone if the new owner decided to reclaim their garden

i cant access the landshare website - the home page sticks because adverts are not downloading to the browser properly - i'm one of the millions who needs a new computer to keep up with the adverts and things on web pages ..........

I'm being philosophical about it all. Sure, we put the work in, but I'm enjoying doing it, and if we get anything, then all well and good. I'm keeping my garden for fruit and longer term stuff, then if it goes pear shaped, we don't lose too much. Seems to be working so far, the owner is getting a good deal though, a free gardener, and his neighbours off his back for the weed seeds
